Moth Rah is the solo music project of Cassandra Solon Parry. The London born songwriter and producer uses a mixture of electronic, analog and acoustic sounds to build her own distinctive and otherworldly music.
Cassandra performed with the band Bear Driver, playing major international festivals (SXSW, Leeds/Reading), before launching her own self-released EP Girl/Phoenix as Moth Rah in 2013. Greeted with an enthusiastic reception from online press and new fans, Cassandra went on to release a second EP and single. In 2017 Cassandra collaborated with the band Dream Giant, receiving support from BBC radio DJs for the album, A Different Light. The single 'New Love' is featured in the film, 'Supernova' starring Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci (UK release July 2021). Wanting Moth Rah to have a coherent visual aesthetic to reflect the enchanting melodies and symbolic narratives she creates, Cassandra has collaborated with a number of visual artists including illustrator Daria Hlazatova, photographer Michaela Meadow and puppeteer Layla Holzer. A film collaboration with Layla Holzer was presented at the Bristol Arnolfini as part of the Angela Carter Strange Horizons exhibition in 2017. Cassandra performs live as Moth Rah with Harry 'Dream' Dean (Bear Driver, Dream Giant). These live performances sometimes incorporate dance and visuals to help conjure Moth Rah's magical world. In 2016 Moth Rah performed at Casita Verde in Ibiza as part of the immersive theatrical event, 'The Walk of the Moon'. When not making music, Cassandra writes fiction.
